Dear Columbia Secondary School community:

With great pleasure and honor, I write this message to you as the new interim acting principal of Columbia Secondary School. I am incredibly proud and excited to lead this dynamic learning community. I come to you with over 20 years of experience as an educator, of which 11 years have been in the role of Assistant Principal here at CSS. I am fortunate to continue to lead a school with such persevering students, dedicated faculty, and supportive and committed families.

As many of you know, Principal Miriam Nightengale has retired, and while we wish her all the best in her new phase of life, it is also sad to see our brilliant Principal depart. Ms. Nightengale has served the CSS community for over ten years as Principal. She has led the school since 2011 and through a pandemic. As schools struggled to pivot through the challenges of remote learning, Ms. Nightengale led onward. She developed strong partnerships with the parents, teachers, the foundation board, Columbia University, and our students. So let us take a minute to give Principal Nightengale her ROSES. We thank you and wish you an awesome and well-desired retirement. I am thrilled to continue to lead this great school community and look forward to building on our legacy of rigorous learning and academic excellence, embracing our diversity while fostering a culture that encourages all students to celebrate their unique strengths.

We are CSS PRIDE!
