Student Performing Arts
The CSS Musical is a schoolwide tradition and one of the highlights of the school year. CSS truly puts the "A" in STEAM education, as our Arts department dazzles each spring semester. The musical is a collaboration of many talented groups of students, from the senior engineering classes that help build the sets, to the many students working backstage and on the Tech Team, from our live student pit band to, of course: our on-stage performers! The director of the musical is Prof. Kilduff.
The June 2023 musical is Mean Girls!
Chorus is designed for students to apply musical skills as they continue to create and experience music as a musical ensemble. This elective offers middle school students a unique experience in learning music and performance. Students will learn music among various genres in addition to performance skills and reading music. This elective is open to all students interested in singing, whether they are experienced choral singers or those who are just looking to find their voice! Dr. Amy Musick directs the Middle School Chorus, whose talent is highlighted at many CSS community events!
The CSS Rock and Jazz Ensemble is directed by Prof. Beletsky. Come and rock out! All instruments/skill levels welcome. The group also welcome participants who want to contribute in a supporting role such as lights/sound, etc. This elective is perfect for those who want to refine their musical skills, practice with a larger group, collaborate and perform at events such as the CSS Holiday Showcase, and transition to the pit band for the CSS musical production.
Middle school students are also welcome to enroll in CSS Rock and Jazz Ensemble (High School Band). They benefit from the peer mentorship, support, and additional direction of high school leaders, who help direct and lead middle school contributors!
