College Office
Our Mission
A CSS education is rooted in social and political consciousness, responsibility to our communities and the world, and dedication to a life of creation and discovery in service of humanity. We mirror these core beliefs in every aspect of our college and post-secondary counseling process. The College Office offers a person-first and comprehensive post-secondary counseling program that focuses on helping each student apply to a range of “best fit” colleges and/or specialized programs that match their individual needs and goals.
Our role is to encourage, support, and prepare students to pursue post-secondary education. We guide students on an exploration of what is important to them in their academics, lives and identities, and the kinds of experiences they hope to have at college and beyond. These tools and resources are provided through weekly College Readiness seminars offered in the Spring of Junior Year and the Fall of Senior Year, 1:1 college counseling meetings, essay & interview coaching, advocacy directly with representatives from post-secondary institutions, early college and career exposure programs (College Rep. Visits, Career Day, College Fairs, etc.), and by nurturing a culture that empowers students to take ownership of their futures.
The College Office believes strongly in student agency, and approach college counseling with the understanding that this is the student's process. We are here to support them at every juncture and expect that -with some course-corrections and reroutes- they will be in the driver's seat of their post-secondary planning process.
