Overview of Sports at Columbia Secondary School

The Columbia Secondary School (CSS) Athletics Department holds the philosophy that the athlete’s most

important tasks are pursuit of personal growth through academic work and team experiences. The department strives to maintain an outstanding athletics program conducted in a manner that sets an example for good sportsmanship and teamwork.

We welcome all students to participate in our interscholastic sports programs. We offer junior varsity and varsity level competition, as well as no cut sports, so there is a home for every athlete. Our teams are consistently competitive across the board, earning recognition for their accomplishments.

Sports are an excellent way to grow emotionally as an individual. CSS participates in PSAL (Public Schools Athletic League), SONYC (School’s Out of New York City), CSS sponsored sports programs, and various other sponsored athletics organizations. All rules and regulations handed down by these governing bodies will be adhered to at all times. Students in middle school, will register for sports programs via SONYC. Students in High School should be checking their emails and listening to announcements for when team tryouts occur.
