Alicia Crawford

This is my eleventh year as a New York City teacher, and my seventh here at CSS.  I graduated from Barnard College with a degree in psychology. In 1991, I graduated from Fordham University with a Masters in Counseling Psychology.  I also have a degree in Special education from City College. 

 

My philosophy of teaching is that all students are unique and capable of learning. I believe that all students learn best by building on their experiences, and as a teacher it is imperative that I support students in making these connections. Towards this end, I provide learning experiences that are varied in modality and perspectives and are reflective of all students in my class. I strive to create a learning environment where students feel safe to take a risk with their learning, and understand that they play a vital role in their own education and the education of their classmates.

 

As a parent and a teacher I am very aware of the impact teachers can have on the lives of their students.  It is for this reason that I encourage home-school communication.
