Congratulations, Professor Hubbard, SONYC Director Nicole Bryant and the Aurora team! In this year's Future City competition, the Aurora Team, made up of 7 CSS 8th grade students an advised by CSS teacher Phil Hubbard in the SONYC Future City elective, took first place in the NYC Regional Future City competition, held January 18th, 2020, at CSS. Future City is a national organization whose mission is to engage middle school students in solving problems using technology and engineering design. The competition starts with a question—how can we make the world a better place? To answer it, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students imagine, research, design, and build cities of the future that showcase their solution to a citywide sustainability issue. This year's theme was Clean Water: Tap Into Tomorrow. See the Future City page under School Life to read more about all the teams who participated this year and the awards that they won.
