6th Grade Admissions Test
What is the Test about?
The Columbia Secondary School Admissions examination is an essay test. It involves 4 essay questions and a short math problem set. The essay part requires that students present their claims and arguments and defend them - provide examples, illustrations, evidence that supports their views. It is not a test of content knowledge but of critical thinking and argument skills. Grammar is not considered - it’s a test of ideas and how well you can present and defend them. The math part tests for specific mathematical skills. In general students cannot study for this test.
The 2010 6th grade Admissions Exam will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2010 from 9: 00 am to 12:00.
- Location: Columbia University/ URIS Hall Room 301 on 1160 Broadway Ave 117th street
- Directions: once in URIS Hall, walk straight towards the elevator and go up to the 3rd floor. Room 301 is located right at the side of the elevator. There will be signs and CSS students ushers.
- Transportation: take the 1 Train to 116th and Broadway and walk north towards 121st Street.
