School Leadership Team Meeting, CSS

August 5, 2008

Members present:  Jose Maldonado, Damaris Padilla, Adam Stern, Candy Gulko

Guests present:  Eve Cagan, Malaga Baldi

Budget

Ways to support the unique programs offered by CSS which are not covered by the DOE were discussed:

--CSS will form a grant writing committee composed of parent volunteers with experience grant writing, Jose, and teachers.  An e-mail will be sent to parents.  The first meeting is tentatively scheduled for the evening of Sept. 12.

--Parents should ask their employers if they have corporate matching policies

--Every parent should fill out the lunch form when it is distributed in the fall because this might qualify CSS for Title 1 funding.

The Building

A meeting between Columbia University and the DOE is scheduled for Sept to discuss plans for the new CSS building.

Student services

--Rotating study skills workshops are being designed by the faculty and will launch in Sept.

--Dana (please fill in last name) will oversee the advisor program to ensure uniformity

Parent volunteers are needed before the start of school

--to paint the gym

--to help teachers move boxes and supplies from hallways to classrooms and organize classrooms

--to put up whiteboards

--to help turn one of the lounges in to a 16-student classroom

Parent volunteers are needed when school begins

--to provide multimedia (particularly design and graphics) expertise

--as lunchroom chaperones

--for grant writing
