Barnes and Noble Hosts CSS-MSE Bookfair and Student Authors Celebration

Last weekend, CSS students took the literary world by storm as they presented original works in the CSS Book Fair Readings at Barnes and Noble at Lincoln Center. Over one-third of CSS students participated in the event, reading their own writing chosen as highlighted work from throughout the school.
Professor Hill's English Language Arts Classes shared short stories and original poems. Students from Professor Dominguez's Spanish Language Arts Classes shared poetry in Spanish and Professor Cota's Science students read science poems exploring Microbes. The event also featured a staged reading of a collaborative writing project from the Creative Writing Collaborative, a student created club advised by Professor Hill. Theatre pieces included a dialogue from Professor Thomson's More Philosophy for Teens, and a puppet show by Professor Hill's Theatre Club.

Audience members were impressed by the talent of our student writers and performers, and even asked, "wait, did they really write that, or are they reading published works?" The all-day book fair fund raiser was likewise a success, and both current students and students from the incoming sixth grade class attended the event to enjoy CSS performances and purchase their summer reading books.
