Creative Arts Spring Spectacular Potluck: Encore!

On Friday, May 16th, CSS families filled the gymnasium with enthusiasm and home-cooked food to celebrate our Creative Arts Program at the second semester Creative Arts Spectacular Potluck and Performances! Students, families, friends, and faculty gathered to celebrate the Creative Arts Program, which currently features 8-week rotation courses in Photography, Film, Sabor, Murals, Web Design, Gardening, and Theatre.

CSS students created an exhibition of work on the gym walls featuring pieces done in Photography with Prof.Thomson, Sabor with Prof. Dominguez, and Murals with Prof. Petro.  Performances featured works done in Theatre, Film, Photography, Dance elective, Creative Writing Collaborative, and Theatre club.

  • A collaborative film/theatre project, "CSS Goes Green!" was premiered, a set of short plays exploring environmental issues written by Prof. Hill's Theatre class and filmed/edited by Prof. Hauge's film class.
  • A second film/theatre collaboration featured monologues performed live by students in Theatre class against "moving backdrops" created by the Film class.
  • The Creative Writing Collaborative performed their collaborative story, and the Theatre Club premiered a hand-puppet show featuring handmade puppets built by the students.
  • The Dance class finale featured two pieces that students have been working on throughout the semester.

All of the evening's performances were met with rave reviews, and the PTA and participating CSS families helped to make the potluck event a great success!
