Approved Minutes of the CSS/ PA for October 18, 2007 

School Leadership Team – These are elected positions. Elections for the SLT will be held at a later date. 

Hall Parents--Hall parents are parents who can volunteer to serve as liaisons between each child's teacher, and their child’s hall and communicate with other parents in the same hall. 

A list was circulated for parent volunteers who would like to volunteer as Hall Parents. 

Fundraising Ideas 

Raffle -- The idea is to get local merchants to donate gifts, get parents to sell raffle tickets’ and then have the drawing at a later date. Someone suggested contacting Fairway. A request will be made to ask parents who shop at Fairway to save their receipts, which will be brought at a later date to Fairway to ask for a donation, based on the frequency and amount of money spent there.  

Adam Stern suggested the idea of creating gift cards. The kids can design a set of 20 or so gift cards that can be purchased by family and friends as a way to raise funds.  He has a preliminary list of vendors that would be able to print the cards and asks parents who are interested in working on this to contact him. 

Holiday gifts to teachers --As per the DOE, we cannot give gifts.  However, we can donate money to the teacher(s) for them to use as a discretionary fund, such as to purchase supplies for the classroom. 

Gym clothes--Samples of the gym clothes are on the way. 

Sandra Echols suggested that we invite Ms. Foster, who is the Parent Advocate for District 5, who has an office at PS 125, to the next PA meeting to assist parents with any questions they may have. Sandra will send an email to Ms. Foster. 

Barbara Pressman of the nominating committee reported that the committee worked very hard and solicited nominations, verified eligible candidates, and sent out nomination and election notices. Thereafter, nominations were taken from the floor and elections were then held for the following PA Positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Secretary, Correspondent and UPA Delegate. By unanimous consent of the assembled parents by show of hands the following officers were elected: 

Sandra Echols, President 

Miriam Hubbard, Co-President 

David Suker, Vice President 

Magno Torreja, Assistant Treasurer  

Correspondent, Cintra Supersad 

Belinda Smith, Secretary 

Damaris Solis Padilla, Co-Secretary 

The offices of Treasurer, Co-Vice President and UPA delegate will have to be determined at a later date as there were no nominations for these positions. 

     La Acta De La Reunion de Padres del CSS/PA del 18 de Octubre del 2007

School Leadership Team (SLT)--- Las posiciones  para el SLT son elegidas. Las eleciones para el SLT se llevaran acabo mas tarde.

Hall Parents— Hall Parents o “Padres de Salon” son padres voluntarios  que se se comunican con la maestra y las escuela y los otros padres en el salon de sus hijos . Se formulo una lista de los padres que estan interesados en ser “Hall Parents”.

Ideas para Recaudar Fondos--- Rifa –La idea es obtener donaciones de los negocios y despues rifar los articulos en otra fecha. Alguien sugerio que hablemos con la tienda Fairway. Le pediremos a las  familias que compran en Fairway que guarden sus recibos  para llevarselos a Fairway en otra oportunidad para pedirle una donación basado en las compras y el dinero que las familias gastan allí.

Adam Stern sugerio que los niños diseñen tarjetas de regalo. Ellos podrian diseñer tarjetas en grupos de veinte para que las familias y amistades las vendan como regalos. El tiene una lista de los vendedores que pueden imprimir las tarjetas y pide que los padres que esten interesados en ayudar con esto que hablen con el.

Regalos para los maestros—El Departamento de Educacíon no permite regales alos maestros, pero si se puede donar dinero para que los maestros compren los articulos que necesitan para  sus clases.

Ropa para la clase de Educacíon Física--- Los samples de la ropa llegaran pronto.

Sandra Echols sugerio que invitemos a la Señora Foster, la representate de padres par a el Distrito 5. Ella tiene una oficina en PS.125. Sandra le enviara una e-mail a la Señora Foster.

Barbara Pressman del comite de nominaciones reporto que el comite trabajo bien fuerte par solicitar nominaciones,  verificar candidatos elegibles y enviar avisos para las nominaciones y eleciones. Despues se tomaron nominaciones del piso y se llevaron acabo las eleciones par alas siguientes oficinas : Presidente, Vicepresidente ,Tesorero, Corespondiente, y Secretaria.         

Por consentimiento unánime de los padres presente y un voto de manos, las siguientes personas fueron elegidas:

Sandra Echols, Presidente

Miriam Hubbard, Co-Presidente              

David Suker, Vicepresidente

Mango Torreja, Asistente Tesorero

Cintra Supersad, Corespondiente

Como no habian nominaciones para las oficinas de Tesorero, Co-Vicepresidente, y Delegado del UPA, estas posiciones seran elegidas mas tarde.
