Additional spatial dimensions may seem like a wild and crazy idea at first, but there are powerful reasons to believe that there really are extra dimensions of space. One reason resides in string theory, in which it is postulated that the particles are not themselves fundamental but are oscillation modes of a fundamental string.

I am excited to be a member of the CSS team. At CSS I am combining my interest in history with my background as an attorney in nonprofit law. I am a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University (B.A., Political Science); Columbia Law School (J.D.; Columbia Law Review); and Teacher's College, Columbia University (Masters of Arts, Teaching of Social Studies). I am married to a lawyer/writer and we have three school-age sons. I love to meet new people and travel around the world; I spent the past summer traveling with my family through Egypt and Asia, including China, Vietnam, India, the Maldives and Japan.
In 2011-2012, I will be teaching 7th grade social studies. We will be focusing on the history of the United States, beginning with a survey of Native American civilizations, moving through Colonial settlement and the path to Revolution. We will also examine the creation of the founding documents of the United States, with an emphasis on the Constitution, and study the growth of the New Nation and the impact of Westward expansion.
I am excited to share my passion for economics, geography, citizenship, history and law, embodied in the 7th grade social studies curriculum.
