Support our J-Term Enrichment Program!
CSS's unique J-term program is centered on environmental education. The main themes of the courses are sustainability (Water, Energy and Food), the relationship between the city and its natural surroundings (Nature in the City, Hudson River and the City), and biodiversity (Island Biodiversity) - the key environmental issues of our times. The Architecture in the City and the History in the City courses address environmental design and population growth issues - key aspects of the environmental awareness equation.
We can proudly say that thanks to the efforts of our entire community, students, parents, faculty and staff we have been able to build a program that truly uses the city, its surrounding areas, and the world as our classroom. Our environmental curriculum provides students with a world-class education and the opportunity to develop their social and creative skills through an interdisciplinary hands-on learning experience. Moreover, our school is probably the only school in the city geared up to have over 100 students camping at the same time!
