Help Fund Excellence

Funded at just $5,700 in taxpayer dollars per pupil in fiscal year 2010, CSS-MSE is forced to operate on a smaller public budget than almost any school in the city or the nation, and yet we offer our highly diverse student population access to educational experiences that rival the most expensive public and private schools.

This is impossible without your help.

You can browse these here.  All funds donated to a mini-grant will be used for that sole purpose, and under the oversight of the Foundation's board of directors.* From providing administrative support to teaching an after-school elective or fitness class, serving on leadership committees or renovating a classroom, there are numerous ways that parents and community members have already given their time and passions in service of the school. The costs of creating a world class Math, Science and Engineering public school in New York City far exceed the $5700 per child provided by our annual city budget.   We believe the education we afford our diverse, talented, and motivated student population is worthy of a greater investment by our community.  In order to preserve a program that honors the young minds we serve, we are committed to an ambitious fundraising campaign that depends on parents and members of the philanthropic and business communities. All donations to The Foundation for Excellence in Education are tax-deductible. Many employers offer matching contributions for employee giving. Please inquire with your employer for details.

*Please note that all mini-grants that are not fully funded within 6 months will have any partial funding transferred for use in our general fund.  Any amount donated in excess of the stated needs of the mini grant will likewise be transferred to the general fund.
