Bridge 2 School Information (First week of classes)
August 12th, 2008
Dear CSS Incoming Students and Families,
This letter to inform about some important topics related to the Bridge 2 School (B2S) week and other concerns raised by parents/guardians:
- For the incoming 6th and 7th Graders, School begins August 25th. All students MUST attend. If you have any inconvenience, please call Dr. Maldonado or Professor Marin.
- School hours during B2S week will be Monday, Wednesday and Thursday: 8 am – 4 pm. Tuesday and Friday: 8 am – 6 pm (Fieldtrips to Columbia University).
- Every student must bring a brown bag lunch (school will not provide breakfast or lunch during this week)
- The required attire is comfortable clothe (short pants, T-Shirt and sneakers. No skirts or mini-skirts will be allowed). School Uniform will be mandatory since September 2nd onwards.
- The P.E. uniform can be purchased at the School from the 3rd week of August. (Prices: T-Shirts, $12 / Sweaters $16). In the meantime, the students may wear solid white or navy blue T-Shirts.
- Due to some School calendar adjustments the 3rd Town Hall Meeting date still to be confirmed. We will inform you as soon as possible.
- Please do not forget to send with your son/daughter the following documentation by August 25th:
- All the permission slips attached in the New Student Handbook,
- The Immunization Form (This document is critical to fulfill DOE requirements),
- Proof of residency (If you have not done it yet),
- Any information regarding medical conditions (including allergies) or medicines to be administrated during school hours.
- If you have not received the student and family e-mail yet, that information will be provided during the first week of school. If you already have it, we encourage you to check on a daily basis our web site (www.columbiasecondary.org) and personal e-mails.
- Specifically for Bridge 2 School, all students must bring:
- An old shirt to paint in
- A small notebook and pen
- A water bottle
- A baby picture (Labeled with their name on the back)
- A copy of Freak the Mighty and reading notes. This is valid only for 6th Graders. 7th Graders will have a different activity.
